Gone are the days that we all carried a phone and address book in order to keep all of our important phone and addresses for folks that we might need to be in contact with. The customized business card is the way to go these days, if you don’t have a business card you are seriously out dated. Even house mothers/makers are known to have a business card to give other parents in order to fix play dates with their youngsters. Isn’t that something?
I like having a business card in order to drop in to the glass containers that you find on the counters at many businesses (mainly) fast food restaurants or service centers. They advertise that they hold weekly drawings and the winner gets a free meal or a free service of some sort. The only place that I will not drop my card in is in a container for a free vacation or for a gym. They just want your information in order to be placed on a mailing list and then you will be bombarded with junk mail for ever and a day.
Customized business cards are becoming more affordable and don’t take as long to make and receive and are all the rage in today’s society.

I know that a lot of the local Food Lions switched over and are now called Blooms. I really thought that my Food Lion was safe from any changes. But today I found out that they are now planning on closing their doors permanently come the end of August. That really bites. I do most of my grocery shopping there and the pharmacist is awesome.

I’ve never been much on worrying about brand names. I know what I like and what I don’t like, a name attached to something doesn’t make it or break it for me. My sister on the other hand is crazy about things like that. Right now she is re doing her master bedroom and master bathroom and has fallen in love with the Candice Olson furniture that she has found online. She is quite good in finding great deals online and has found a cool website called become.com that brings power shopping to your finger tips with price comparison and product reviews, which is a great product shopping and research tool for online shoppers that are becoming more and more popular each year.
She found become.com when she was pregnant and was looking for the best baby related products that she could find while waiting at home, on bed rest for the last 2 months of her pregnancy. She had twins and it was hard on her then and still hard on her now three years later and she still has 15 years to go. LOL
I’ve used become.com a few times myself. I found some great women’s jewelry by using their search engines. I usually buy most of my costume jewelry at the thrift stores or the local flea markets. But when I find a company that has low prices and has free shipping I’ll keep buying online and not deal with crowds at these various markets.

I’m so glad that I have a good amount of channels available on my current cable package. Lately I’ve been watching more and more shows on the Syfy Channel, but The Comedy Channel is still my favorite. I’m always in the mood for a good laugh……

I figure that we need to go as “green” as we all can possibly become these days. I’ve been told that there are website hosting companies that are doing what they can in order to become environmentally friendly, which I think is pretty darn cool. I’ve always been a recycling freak. I grew up with parents from the “hippie” generation and recycling has always been something that just came naturally due to their generation and their lifestyles.
There is so much more to being “green” than recycling, but it is something that we all can do and should be doing as much as possible. Where I live our taxes pay for our trash removal and recycling pick-ups. They provide us with the bins, one for plastic and glass, the other one for paper. Each week all we need to do is place the containers on the curbside and the truck comes and picks them up and hauls them away. The only way that they can make it any easier would be to provide a person to stand in the corner of the kitchen or garage and separate and dispose of the items, and that just isn’t realistic now is it. So I don’t understand why there aren’t more blue bins on the curb on recycling day. It really irks me to know that people are just to darn lazy to make such a small effort that would make such a difference to us all in the end.
